Preface

The most successful video games have an important element in common, that is, the ability to attract players and make them think they are surrounded by mutually consistent stimuli. This experience is called "Immersion".
In this highly intensive state, one component of immersion that is dominant is that players report that they lose all sense of time passing and are completely focused and concentrated on what they are doing (Time Perception).
Music and Sound effects, too, are an integral and indispensable part of immersion in modern video games, as they are used as feedback to communicate aspects of the narrative more clearly to the player, convey emotions, reinforce visual affordances, and help the virtual space to be as realistic and alive as possible.
The purpose of the present research is to make an investigation of the effect of immersion, time perception and the true importance of music on the overall experience of the player during gameplay .
